Miss Headland Pageant

Meet our Royalty!  On Saturday, March 6, our 2010-2011 queens were announced after a night full of beautiful pageantry.  Anna Fischer was crowned Little Miss Headland, Elizabeth Adams was crowned Jr. Miss Headland and Carly Williams was crowned Miss Headland.

The Headland Chamber of Commerce is the proud sponsor of the Miss, Jr. and Little Miss Headland Pageants.  This event takes place during the first quarter of each year and holds much excitement for many participants.  Headland is so fortunate to have been represented by some of the finest young ladies in town.  They grace the stage with great poise, intelligence and that great southern charm which always makes this competition an annual event filled with anticipation.  The young ladies who are crowned Miss and Little Miss Headland go foward to represent our fair city in the Southern renowned National Peanut Festival Pageant in the following fall.

Annual Meeting and Dinner Event 2010

Our Annual Meeting and Dinner was held at The Gathering Place on Thursday, March 25th at 6:30 p.m.  This year we had a crowd of some 135 people join us for an evening of great fellowship and wonderful food provided by Country Foods.

We were delighted to have Mr. John S. Riley as our guest speaker for the evening.  This noted motivational speaker and humorist absolutely lived up to his resume!  He had the room filled with laughter and added in some great southern stories we could all relate to from days gone by.  A fun time was had by all...we thank you Mr. Riley for helping us to see the "brighter side of life!"

We had a three very important people to pay honor to for all of their hard work and dedication to the chamber.  Cindy Marshall, Sheila Chancy and Sherri Nowell were presented awards - just a small token of some very much deserved appreciation from the chamber. Also, our wonderful "Miss" Mary Helen Jackson's family were in attendance as Penny Jones, board member, gave a memorial tribute about her and all of work and dedication she put into the chamber for many years.

To top the evening off, the chamber welcomed two new board members - Martha Ellen Granberry and Danny McKinney.  We are looking foward to another great year at the chamber and with the wonderful, evergrowing city of Headland.  If you didn't get the chance to make the event this year - we will keep you posted on the event for 2011...it just gets a little better each and every year!

Annual Daylily Festival

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 5, 2010 and join us at Headland's 19th Annual Daylily Festival.

The Headland Chamber of Commerce is the sponsor of the Daylily Festival held on the square in dowtown among the greenest of trees and coolest of lemonade.  This beautiful site is delivered by none other than Mother Nature and is usually set in the last days of May or early June each year.  These "showstopper" flowers are all too dependant on our great Southern weather and their proprietors anxiously await the first signs of blooms...and away we go planning our great flower event.  Within the event itself you will find many specimens of Daylililes and the proud owners who can give you a tip or two on growing them.  There are also local gardens open for tours and of course a lovely day to debut your Spring Hat!  Be certain to check back with us on the exact date of our Annual Daylily Festival.
