Carol Bedsole has been chosen Parade Marshall for the 2014 Headland Christmas Parade set for Thursday, Dec. 11 at 6pm. The parade theme is “A Caroling Christmas Parade.” She will lead the parade through the downtown area followed by bands, floats, queens, dignitaries, horses and Santa Claus.
Mrs. Bedsole has been a vital part of the Headland and Henry County community for many years. She has served tirelessly in her home church, First Baptist Church of Headland, and in many organizations and events throughout the county.
Mrs. Bedsole was awarded the Burdeshaw-Solomon Volunteer of the Year award in March 2014. She volunteers at the senior center assisting with activities and travel, preparing meals for shut-in members of the center and delivering those meals to their homes during the weeks the center is closed. She is a member of Kiwanis Club and volunteers with Henry County Relay for Life and Henry County Farm City Banquet. She is also involved with the Gideon’s Ministries and the Judson Baptist Association.
Mrs. Bedsole and her husband Bruce have three children, Tommy, Nancy (Bynon) and Steve; and six grandchildren.
The parade line-up will be at Douglas Park starting at 4:45pm. Santa Claus will visit with children in the gazebo at the town square at the end of the parade. Deadline for participants to enter the parade is Thursday, Dec. 4.
The Christmas Parade is sponsored by the Headland Area Chamber of Commerce. Participants need to complete and return an entry form to the Chamber office by Thursday, Dec. 5. Entry fee is $10.
