Johnny Lee has been chosen Grand Marshal for the 2015 Headland Christmas Parade. This year’s parade theme is “A Christmas Parade of Lights” and is set for Thursday, Dec. 10 at 6pm. The Grand Marshal will lead the parade through the downtown area followed by bands, floats, queens, dignitaries, horses and Santa Claus.
Lee has been a vital part of the Headland and Henry County community for many years. He has generously volunteered his time and resources for many organizations, individuals and events throughout the county. He is possibly best known for his fish fries for Relay for Life and other charitable events. Lee cooks hams for people in the community for Thanksgiving and breakfast for the Community Easter Service. He also provides hay for numerous occasions from weddings to hayrides and assists senior citizens with storm damage and yard cleaning during the year.
Lee serves as president of the Henry County Farmers Federation and the Alabama Young and Adult Farmers, chairman of the Henry County Soil and Water Conservation Service and deacon at First Baptist Church in Headland.
The parade line-up will be at Douglas Park starting at 4:45pm. Santa Claus will visit with children in the gazebo at the town square at the end of the parade.
The Christmas Parade is sponsored by the Headland Area Chamber of Commerce. Participants need to complete and return an entry forms, available on this website, to the Chamber office by Friday, Dec. 4. Entry fee is $10.
