  • Adrienne WilkinsThe Headland Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors announced this week that its new Executive Director is Adrienne Wilkins. Mrs. Wilkins has been a volunteer for the Chamber for two years and has been assisting the Chamber by leveraging their social media presence. Mrs. Wilkins has a degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Louisiana State University and more than ten years in sales and business development. She has served as the President of Headland Main Street and was instrumental in helping Headland become a Main Street Designated city.

    “I have had the pleasure of working with Adrienne for quite some time. We are glad to have her on board and serving Headland with our Chamber. Her experience will be an asset to the members of the Headland Area Chamber of Commerce,” said Pete Crews, Board of Directors President. “We appreciate the years of service Rhonda Harrison has served our Chamber and appreciate all she is doing during this transition.”

    The Connect @ Lunch networking event was hosted by the Abbeville Chamber of Commerce at Great Southern Conference Center on August 1. The Henry County Chambers also celebrated the addition of Southeast Alabama Works to both Chambers with a joint ribbon-cutting. Ryan Richards of Southeast Alabama Works was also the guest speaker for the event and gave an update on the organization's growth and efforts for workforce development in the Wiregrass Region.   • T Larry SmithThomas (T.) Larry Smith has been chosen Grand Marshal for the 2019 Headland Christmas Parade. This year’s parade theme is “Bicentennial: 200 Years in the making” and is set for Thursday, Dec. 5 at 6:30pm.

    The Grand Marshal will lead the parade through the downtown area followed by bands, floats, queens, dignitaries, horses, CornDodgers Farm's candy cannon and Santa Claus. The parade will follow our Annual Tree Lighting and Kindergarten Sing. Children can visit with Santa on the front porch of the library immediately following the parade.

    T. Larry has been in love with history his entire life and his roots run deep in Henry County. Appointed by the Henry County Commission in 2000 as the Official Historian of Henry County, Alabama, we felt it was only appropriate to have him honored has our parade marshal for the Bicentennial Christmas Parade. Mr. Smith has a passion for recording Henry County’s history and now he will become of it.

    The parade line-up will be at Douglas Park starting at 5:30pm. The parade route begins at Douglas Park on East Church Street, continues to and around the town square, then south on Main Street to King, Cleveland and Whitten streets, and ends on Mitchell Street at the school parking lot.
