Little Miss Headland

Little Miss Headland 1963-64 – Joan Brogden is the daughter of Clarence "CA" & Elizabeth "Lib" Johnson Brogden (Headland, both deceased). Her father was the Superintendent of Wiregrass Experiment Station and was called Brogden by everyone including her mom. Joan went to Headland Schools until 9th grade and then attended Houston Academy from 9th to 12th and graduated from there in 1974. She then went to Auburn University and graduated with two degrees in 1978.

Joan has been married to Harry Barnhill since 1981 and they have lived in Marietta, Georgia for 33 years. They have 3 children, Joshua (age 34), Corey (age 29) and Austin (age 27) and 2 grandchildren from their son Josh, Caroline (age almost 6) and Easton (age 4). She is a part-time sales rep for rep groups that sell to gift stores.

Trivia: Joan's mother, Elizabeth Johnson was the first Miss Headland 1938 and also the first Miss National Peanut Festival 1938. Her cousin, Dethalia Johnson was Miss Headland 1959. Joan also was the crown bearer for the 1st Little Miss Headland Pageant in 1959 when Donna Sue Pitts was crowned.
