Little Miss Headland

Little Miss Headland 1960-61 – Millicent "Millie" Cutchen was crowned on October 6, 1960. She is the daughter of the late Coleman & Eugenia Cutchen (Headland). Her father owned and operated Cutchen Barber Shop by Cash Drugs Store on the Square in Headland. Millie graduated from Headland High School in 1971 where she was a Junior & Varsity Cheerleader. She then graduated from Troy State University in 1975 with a major in Elementary Education.

Millie has been married to Clay Bowen for 43 years and they have lived in Dothan, Alabama all that time. They owned Bowen Pharmacy and he was a pharmacist there for 40 years. Together they have two adult daughters, Mitzi Bowen Odom (Dothan) and Abby Bowen Melton (Birmingham) and four grandchildren, Luke (age 11) & Noah (age 8) Odom and Isla (age 4) & Jack (age 2) Melton. Millie taught one year at Headland Elementary and 24 years in Dothan City Schools, where after retirement she tutored 15 years

Trivia: Millie's older sister, Jacqueline Cutchen (later Reynolds) was Miss Headland 1947 before she was born. The year Millie won, the pageant was then held at the Armory in Headland.
